Much Love Monday:)

Today I am loving sketching and watercolors:) I decided to dig out my mom's old ones instead of waiting to buy pencils. And I was really excited so if you notice some crooked lines and messy painting jobs that's why. Also it was my first time trying to seriously maneuver watercolors on brushes that I'm not too fond of anymore. See, the sketches are little, and the brushes are big[ger, they aren't really big, big] I just need to teach myself how to use them better:)

These are the ones that I got inspiration from Marc Johns, that I was talking about before.

Other things I am loving on this Much Love Monday:

♥ best friends ♥ impromptu  play dates ♥ venting ♥ sweaters on a rainy day ♥ the last bits of summer ♥ new friends ♥ inside jokes ♥ sideways smiley faces:) ♥ saving good/funny/cute/day making texts to reread when I'm feeling silly ♥ Sheena from The Layered Pancake for featuring my photos! ♥ shadow puppet chinchillas ♥ best friend shenanigans ♥ texting until the wee hours of the morning ♥ best friend birthdays ♥ creating something and not feeling like I have to explain it ♥ being done with summer homework so I can relax for two days before school starts ♥ early morning seminary because I'm a nerd ♥ boys that say 'omg' ♥

Quotes of the day.

So yesterday I was looking at my sister's blog, and clicked on the 'quote of the day' tag and reminisced about all of our family sillinesses:) So I decided to include all of the best ones in today's post.

Thane: "We're not here to argue; we're here to trade Tiddly-Winks."

Andrea {playing guitar hero on too hard of a level}:
"This is the sound of my face exploding."
Thane: "And of all things, it's 'La Bamba.'"

Andrea: "This snow is bouncy! It's bouncing off the windshield!"
Kaylyn: "It's frozen rain."
Andrea (in denial): "Shh. It's snow."
Kaylyn: "Wow, this snow is bouncy!"

Andrea: "I wonder how many Rubik's Cubes have been returned because customers thought they were defective?"

TV: "Critics say Leverage is better than the last two Ocean's Eleven movies..."
Thane: "But not the first one. That goes without saying."

Mom {talking about American Idol}: "The Osmond has to go through."
Andrea: "Yeah, or else there would be a Mormon uprising."
Kaylyn: "Yeah. We'd swarm."

Kaylyn [updating on American Idol from the night before, which Andrea didn't get to watch]:
"He didn't wear nail polish or eyeliner, but he was still wearing mascara."
Andrea: "How could you tell?"
Kaylyn: "His bottom lashes were very...defined."
Andrea: "Maybe he's born with it."
Kaylyn: "No, I'm pretty sure it's Maybelline."

 Kaylyn: "Rrrrggghh! [pause] ...that was my soul talking."

Blake: We're boys from the same family.
Thane: We're brothers.
Blake: That's what I just said.
Thane: Don't make me stick my lollipop to your face.

Fall is here, hear the yell.

White Stripes, playgrounds, crunchy leaves, apples, and the last living flower... Yesterday is the first day all summer it has rained; really rained, not just sprinkling, not just a random hardcore storm. Just big ol' fat rain. I've been doing summer homework.. school starts in one week.. *sigh* Fall is here..

I can tell that we are going to be friends:)

The Superhero Epic League of Averagness

{this post is a doozy, but it's so worth it!:)}

This is The Superhero Epic League of Averagness.

Meet Green Cowboy Shoot-y Man aka Wayco,

Red Native American Fuzzy Headed Guy,

Green Plastic Ninja Leaping Man,

Red Plastic Ninja Leaping Man {Green Plastic Ninja Leaping Man's twin brother. Their parents obviously love him more because of his bow hunting skills.},

Rexy, the Purple Om Nomming T-Rex,

Scarfness Dino,

Poser Ninja Turtle {don't be deceived, he's really a troll doll} {...loser..} {we throw sticks at him},

Non-Pwning Batman,

The Superhero Epic League of Averagness has lots of fun for family home evening every Monday night:
They listen to Journey's greatest hits,

play with cows,

and nom sugar-free jelly beans.

They also love to see the temple. They're going there someday, after all.

And they party like wild animals.

But the Superhero Epic League of Averageness always becomes bitter when Pwning Batman pwns at Apples to Apples. Every. Single. Night.

They still always find time to study their scriptures for seminary.

And to end each day they ritually read Harry Potter while Twilight is burning to a crisp in the corner. Alone. Shunned.

{This is what my best friend and I do in our spare time together:) Doesn't this just make you want to looove us?}
{And sorry that some of these pictures are too silly.. I'm too lazy to make them all pretty, so I'm just leaving them in their straight-out-of-the-camera state}

Love like a sunset part III

Monday, August 23, 2010

Like you imagined, when you were young.

So, science isn't really my forte.. So one day last year I drew this picture after finishing a test because I was too lazy to start the homework I was supposed to be doing:
It's the contents of my mind. I even drew it in pink sparkly gel pen:) then I folded it up into a heart, which is why there are creases in it. It includes the works; princesses, disco, ice cream, dinosaurs, robots, a magician, and references to Flight of the Concords {bubblegum pie} and Panic at the Disco {bottom left corner, the sun and the moon drinking tea in a garden under green umbrella trees}.

Then a few days ago I finished a sketch that I realized was a lot like the other one. It's what makes me, me:)
This is pretty much the epitome of my soul, by the way. And a lot neater than the first picture I did:)

But we got sea legs

And we're off tonight.
They can't have that to which they've no right.
You belong to a simpler time.
I'm a victim to the impact of these words,
And this rhyme.

~Sea Legs by The Shins
{this is my older sister}

{and my nephew}

{and his toys. The dinosaur likes looking through the blinds}

Rawr♥

This is my nephew, again:) He's playing with a ring that my best friend Kirstie gave me that flashes red and blue:) I love dinosaurs. Obviously because I was just as excited about a giant squishy light up dinosaur ring as my almost 4 year old nephew was. I love how little kids see the world. Where stickers are the best thing ever, and someone REALLY loves you if they give you cake. The honest simplicity and purity that goes with it all.

When was the last time you played make believe? Or named the bees that landed on the flowers when you were sitting outside. Then had a little bee wedding with Molly bee, and Frank bee who loved each other so much. Then sang a song about them, because bees like singing the best. Because there were no rules to the games; we could eat ice cream for dinner and dig to China. When lemonade tasted so good, and  cookies weren't corrupted by nuts or fancy things. Just honest chocolate chip. And nothing was more binding than I want to hold your hand, and best friends were made through a mutual love for the monkey bars.

And a good job was only really a good job if you were awarded a sticker for it. If you look sad, I will put stickers on your shoes. I have done it before. If I love you I will draw a picture for you. Probably with crayons. But not a 64 pack, because I'm not that cool. I will name your umbrella, then hug it when it gets rained on.

I think that the way people live their lives is way too silly

smile, silly:)
