More oxfords!!

Okay, so I was shopping last week, and I have been looking for classic black and white oxfords. The first store I went into I found them! But there were only two 9s left, and my feet are nott a 9. So we ordered them instore and got them shipped to our house, no shipping fee. And guess what's the best part? Originally $50, on clearance for $18. I have to say, I have impeccable timing and skill for shopping:)

And they came today!!

I have a current obsession with oxfords, can you tell? The box actually called them tuxedo shoes, but whatever:)

I will be wearing them around for.. until school actually starts.. to break them in because they are VERY stiff. And I am VERY excited.

In the middle of summer

I love summer. Who doesn't? The sun out until 10, the laid back vibe of everything, the adventures with your friends.. But there are some things that always remind me of summer no matter what time of year it is.

Ever since last summer when I got this pomegranate Burt's Bees chap stick the smell of it has reminded me of summer.

And of course, the smell of sun screen reminds me of summer, too.

What makes you think of summer?

11:11... Make a wish...

Can we pretend that airplanes in the night sky are like shooting stars? I could really use a wish right now.
-Airplanes by B.O.B feat. Hayley Williams
{Disclaimer: I do not like rap. I really just love Hayley William's voice and those two lines. I don't even like Paramore.. Just her voice.}

{My mom's alarm clock from when she was in high school in the 70s. It has to be wound, and I am too impatient for that.. and it's a little fast and really loud. So I did this with it:)}

As you may have noticed

I am doing some major blog renovations.. There may be more to come, but I have not really decided yet.. I hope you like my new look!

The clouds will be a daisy chain:)

So, daisies are my most favorite flower in the world. And I saw these purple and yellow starbust ones {both the mirror or each other, one with purple in the middle the other with the purple on the outside.} I fell in love with them, and bought them. Then I forgot about them and went outside to find them dead. Well, guess what. I went outside to take photos again, and found fully living daisies! In both colours! {by the way, yes I'm American, but I have always believed the 'color' deserved a 'u'} So I took A LOT of pictures:)

{this one was taken when just one kind was a zombie; as you may tell from it being my profile picture.}

I love taking pictures of flowers and plants from underneath because they are so translucent and that way it catches the blue sky. I am just addicted to the way they shadow on each other and how the light passes through them. It's the sort of thing that Pixar did when researching how to develop A Bug's Life with a tiny little moving video camera; and it was surprising how the light went through everything.

With Bows In Her Hair

Just past the distant horizon;
Where the sky and the earth are kissing,
There's a field with a girl
By a tree just sitting.

With bows in her hair,
And a blanket underneath
Gently pulling petals off of daisies,
And waiting patiently.

The stretching tree conforms to her back
As the sun glints off the fresh grass
Streaking shadows 'cross her face
From her longest eyelashes.

Many people there pass her by,
Some already in couples, some alone
Each never noticing her there,
Her seeing every one.

Simply sitting in her spot
On her blanket by the tree
Watching everyone go by,
Viewing their lives silently.

A few stop to say hello
Then carry on their way
Never really caring for her answer
To their "how are you this day?"

Even fewer stop to sit
Getting comfy with her company
Only to stay there for a while
Slightly jeering as they leave.

So she sits alone on her blanket
With a basket she's prepared
For the brave one who will sit down
And never leave her sitting there.

They will lie there together on her blanket
Finding pictures in the clouds,
And he'll let her win their thumb wars
As they watch the fireflies for hours.

For him she'll share her picnic,
And smile with the sun in her eyes
While he stares at her in wonderment
How this star fell from the skies.

Others will ask "what does he see in her?"
As they watch them jealously,
But to see in her what nobody else could
Is love's true ability.

But until he wanders by her
She'll sit pulling petals off of daisies
Counting every star in the night sky
Slowly driving herself crazy.

Then the wilting girl just past the horizon
Where the sky and the earth are kissing,
The girl with the bows in her hair
Will die waiting for him patiently.

Much love Monday: Campfires

:) It's much love monday! Do you see the heart in there?! Pretty tricky, huh? Well, I love campfires {I do not love hotdogs, but it was swell in the shot.} I even love that campfire-smoke-stuck-in-your-sweatshirt smell. It reminds me of all the good times and magic after dark in the summer around a crackling fire:) I actually like fire, it's so pretty to me. Especially when it's just the embers burning through the pieces when it's dying out. It looks like an electric city pulsing through it.

Lovely Sunday: Strawberries and little boys.

Life is God's gift to man. What we do with it is our gift to God.

Kirstie {my best friend} took this photo of her 3 year-old brother, and I was so in love with it that I asked if I could steal it and edit it and put it on my blog. {She said yes.} This was said {in a text} in that conversation about the picture: That was at the St. George temple, the lady gave [my little brother] a card so he would shut up and I told him it was Jesus and he had to verify that they matched. Simply adorable!

I made it myself!

I cannot write or read that without thinking about Invader Zim. So anyways, on this blog which I follow and love she is doing a whole week of little things that she made herself. Today's post reminded me of something that I made myself almost exactly a year ago {a year and two days, crazy, huh?} Okay, so I made them with this cheap putty stuff that I had.. and the pictures aren't too great.. and they're a tad bit blurry.. but this is a creation I made a while ago.. so don't laugh too hard, okay:)

Stormy seas and inspirational reads

I was reading the book MEE Thinks by Mary Ellen Edmunds last week. I came across this excerpt that I especially liked and I thought that I'd illustrate my thoughts and share it:

" I've been thinking about fellowshipping.
One day when I was thinking about it, I had an imaginary scene come into my mind. There was a little ship out in the ocean in a terrible storm. It was tossing around, and as the waves and the storm grew stronger, there was an increasing likelihood that the little ship was going to tip over and sink and be lost forever.
But then here came little fellow ships, venturing out in the storm, finding the ship that was in trouble, surrounding it, and safely guiding it to a protected harbor.
Can you think of someone who's being tossed around in a terrible storm who might be searching through the darkness for a fellow ship to come to the rescue? "

A summer of adventure {as told through a pair of converse}: Part 1

These are my beloved converse {in their pre-Canada tattoo days}:

And these are the adventures they are going on this summer:
Strawberry picking with my family.

Playing in the yard with my nephew.

Driving downtown.

Playing by the shore with my friends.

On the airplane to Alaska.

{okay, so these aren't realllyy my converse, but you can see them in the shot, anyways}
In the room I stayed in in Alaska.

Stay tuned for more of my summer of adventure!

Man, oh man, you're my best friend.

{finally photos of Alaska! Don't worry, there are plenty more on the way:) }
Alabama, Arkansas, I do love my Ma & Pa,
Not the way that I do love you.

Holy roly, me, oh my, you’re the apple of my eye
,
Girl, I’ve never loved one like you.

Man, oh man, you’re my best friend, I scream it to the nothingness,
There ain’t nothin’ that I need.

Well, hot & heavy, pumpkin pie, chocolate candy, Jesus Christ,

There ain’t nothin’ please me more than you.

Ahh, Home,
Let me come Home,
Home is wherever I’m with you.

I’ll follow you into the park, through the jungle, through the dark,
Girl, I’ve never loved one like you.

Moats & boats & waterfalls, alley ways & pay phone calls,

I’ve been everywhere with you.

We laugh until we think we’ll die, barefoot on a summer night,
Nothin’ new is sweeter than with you.

And in the sticks we’re running free like it’s only you and me,
Geez, you’re something to see.

Ahh, Home,
Let me come Home,
Home is wherever I’m with you.
Ahh, Home,
Let me come Home,
Home is when I’m alone with you.
